David Monckton, CFP®, co-founded Carolinas Wealth Management Group in 1999 with a vision to create an organization built around a team concept and dedicated to serving clients first. He is passionate about partnering with clients in creating a clear path towards the realization of their goals in line with their values.
David graduated from Clemson University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance Management and earned his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1999.
David has over 20 years of experience in personal financial planning. Before CWM opened, David was a financial advisor at Jefferson Pilot Financial Insurance Company. He has a unique ability to create a clear picture of a client's financial position both now and into the future.
David enjoys spending time with his wife and playing games on the beach with his two kids. He is involved with his church and the community, training and participating in triathlons, and watching the Clemson Tigers.
Sam Head, CEP®
Sam Head, CEP®
Sam Head co-founded Carolinas Wealth Management Group of Voya Financial Advisors in 1999 with his college roommate and best friend, David Monckton. He concentrates on investment management, financial planning, and tax reduction strategies. He has been providing tax reduction strategies and financial planning services to individuals and businesses for 20 years.
Sam graduated from Clemson University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. An informative and highly regarded speaker, he has addressed numerous organizations, corporate employee groups, and executives on topics including investment strategies, insurance, retirement planning, and estate planning.
Sam's passion is making a positive difference in people's lives. He has devoted his time to working with colleges, seminaries and other nonprofits to help raise funds for operations and endowments. He is active in his church and charitable giving, striving to honor God in every aspect of his professional and personal life.
Sam enjoys spending time at his Lake Keowee home with his wife, daughter, and two dogs. In his rare and coveted free time, he enjoys watching Clemson athletics with his friends and family and practicing his swing on the golf course.
Chief Financial Officer
Garry Freeman*, CPA, CGMA, is the CFO of Carolinas Wealth Management Group. His primary responsibilities are to manage day-to-day operations and provide leadership for the direction and vision of CWM.
Garry earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. In 1984 he earned his designations CPA and CGMA.
He has over 31 years of experience in personal financial planning. He sold his practice, Freeman & Associates in 1997 to help other businesses in the community with strategic planning and growth. From 2006–2008, he was the CFO for Blue Sky Sales and Marketing, which served the Wild Dunes and Cliffs communities in the Carolinas. Garry is now the CEO at Teleios Services, an organizational development firm.
Garry is married to his wife, Kitty of thirty plus years, and has two children. He enjoys spending time with his family at the lake or playing with friends on the golf course. He is involved with both Teleios Ministry and the Oak Tree Church, two organizations that are engaged in mission activities throughout the world.

Michael Fusco, CRPC
Mike Fusco is a Registered Representative of Voya Financial Advisors with Carolinas Wealth Management. He joined the team in 2013 providing guidance and eliminating potential conflicts of interest that get in the way of reaching client's goals.
Mike graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer Economics from the University of Georgia. After graduation, he worked for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter as a Financial Advisor. He is currently involved with Feed A Family in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Mike values the time he is able to spend with his wife, Meredith. He enjoys being on the beach with his family and friends. It is not unusual to find Mike outdoors, whether he is playing a round of golf, kicking a soccer ball, or casting a reel fishing.
Director of Compliance & Operations
Lauryn Harbour is the Director of Compliance & Operations for Carolinas Wealth Management Group. She is dedicated to optimizing the firm's strategic efforts and implementing decisions that provide positive impact and value to our clients. While providing oversight of Client Services, she serves high net worth clients in the design and implementation of strategic financial solutions. She also ensures compliance objectives are followed by planning, organizing and overseeing that our six branch offices are following Voya Financial Advisors' and FINRA's compliance regulations.
Lauryn graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina in 2004, with majors in Finance and Management. After graduation, she became as a Registered Representative and Registered Principal for Voya Financial Advisors. Lauryn has been with CWM for ten years, beginning her career as an intern in college. She has dedicated her professional career to the vision and integrity she believes CWM offers, and is a vital anchor in its vast success.
Lauryn is a member at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia and has served as a volunteer at Palmetto Richland Hospital. Being a USC alumni, she enjoys watching the Gamecocks play on Saturdays in the Fall. She is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her family.
Client Relationship Manager
Kelly Cooper is the Client Relationship Manager at Carolinas Wealth Management Group of Voya Financial Advisors. She manages the company's interaction with current and future clients. She has a unique connection between the clients and the financial advisors that cultivates their relationship and increases client satisfaction. She acts as a problem-solver and problem-preventer, making client's lives easier.
Kelly graduated from the New York Institute of Finance in 1988. She began her professional career in the financial industry as an Executive Assistant at LaBranche & Co., a stock specialist firm, for nearly ten years. Working for 20 specialist traders, she acted as the liaison between the floor traders and investor relation contacts, keeping them updated of their company's trading activity. In 2000, she received the opportunity to work at Smith Barney as a Senior Sales Assistant and Operations Associate. Working for several advisors and the branch manager, she was responsible for overseeing operational duties on a daily basis.
Kelly's primary source of enjoyment and camaraderie consists of spending time with her three children, Kristina, Nicholas, and Frank. Moving from Staten Island, New York, she and her family are enjoying the better quality of life in Myrtle Beach. She loves traveling to Charleston, shopping on the weekends, boating, and reading on the beach.
Client Relationship Manager
Kayleigh McAllister is an Office Administrator at Carolinas Wealth Management Group. She balances her time organizing and supervising all administrative responsibilities that facilitate the office to run smoothly. She handles a variety of duties including scheduling appointments and meetings for executive and upper level staff, assisting in the preparation of payroll, and greeting all guests with an enthusiastic demeanor.
Kayleigh studied human resources at Clemson University. She was a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and Sigma Kappa. While being a part of Sigma Kappa, Kayleigh was able to raise over $5,000 in charitable donations for Alzheimer's disease research. During her freshman and sophomore years of college, she discovered her passion for working with people while being a Corporate Trainer at JPeter's. She enjoyed traveling to the different restaurant locations and training new employees and managers.
When Kayleigh is not working, she is spending time with her family. She enjoys knitting, which is a surprise to many, and reading a Sylvia Day or James Patterson book for relaxation. She likes to be on Lake Keowee in the summer and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the fall.
